This weekend, Elliott and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary. I really can’t believe it went so fast! Of course, we spent the weekend reminiscing, eating cake and watching part of our wedding video, but after indulging in so much #CamElWeds, I thought it was finally time I share a look into our big day. I am going to try to get a little up each week, so bear with me as I sift through the hundreds of photos and gather all the details. I shared our proposal story here, so the next logical place to start is our engagement photos. In planning our wedding, Elliott and I set three goals for our big day: 1.) Amazing photography, 2.) great food/bar 3.) memorable music/dancing. We knocked all three out of the park, but the best decision we made, besides burying the bourbon bottle, was working with JoPhoto. JoPhoto is a husband and wife team based out of Knoxville, TN; Joe + Kathleen. I first heard about them through Gillian’s Blog Facebook Page . There was a post sharing that they were expanding to shoot weddings in Charleston. When I saw the post, I was deep into my photography search and just hadn’t found what we were looking for. I wanted someone who pulled the chemistry out of Elliott and me, made us feel comfortable and a team that worked well with light and film. We met with Kathleen and Joe one spring evening at Park Cafe and after two hours, we knew we had met our match. Our package included engagement pictures which was fantastic because it really helped us get comfortable shooting with Kathleen and Joe and let us know what to expect the weekend of the wedding. We scheduled our photos for the first week in September which was still pretty hot, but Joe and Kathleen showed up with water, towels to blot dewiness, bug spray and even aerosol to create a hazy appearance in some pictures! They really left no stone unturned. I had a vision for the shoot as I wanted to capture Charleston, our beautiful wedding venue a la a garden picnic and, in-between the two, a stop at Elliott’s recording studio to capture the place he loves.
Because we have SO many pictures, and they are all amazing, I’ve decided to split engagement pictures up into three posts. I’m going to start with my favorite, which is really a lie since I love them all so much, the recording studio shoot. For those of you who don’t know, Elliott is an audio engineer. He spends his days mixing, producing and engineering television, movies and musicians. The studio was a unique place to take pictures and also gave us a spot to do an outfit change before heading to our last location.
