There’s nothing better than horse racing, really! If you’ve never been to a horse race, you don’t know what you’re missing. This weekend we celebrated the biggest race of them all, The Kentucky Derby. While I might not have been at Churchill Downs, I had a ball celebrating in Charleston at the Cocktail Club’s Derby party.
Sipping a julep and wearing a big hat made me feel right at home— especially since I ran into fellow Kentuckians who knew all the words to my Old Kentucky home too. I swear there’s no sweeter sound!
I was rooting for Dance With Fate and Ride on Curlin’ who was topped by my favorite jockey, Calvin Borel. In the end, the favorite, California Chrome, pulled ahead and took home the roses. From the looks of it, Chrome might just have what it takes to be the first Triple Crown winner in 36 years. Either way, it was a perfect first Saturday in May.
Did you watch the Derby? Who did you bet on?
